Garlic Barriers

First Line of Defense Improvised Protection Robert Neville hangs garlic necklaces over boarded windows and relies on the smell to keep attackers away. Limited Success The method works but requires constant replacement as the odor fades. Atmosphere The house becomes a gloomy, garlic-scented fortress rather than a home.

Soundproof Walls

Silencing the Night Persistent Noise The attackers’ voices, rocks, and fights continually damage Robert Neville’s nerves. Construction After rebuilding, he soundproofs the house so their cries cannot reach him. Psychological Result Silence offers relief, but it also deepens his separation from the outside world.

Generator Failure

The Dead House Vulnerable Infrastructure During the major assault, attackers damage the generator and destroy Robert Neville’s vehicle. Exposure The loss of electricity threatens refrigeration, lighting, and the basic systems of survival. Recovery Repairing the generator becomes as urgent as fighting the vampires themselves.
